Plant galls recorded from Guanacaste Conservation Area-Costa Rica as an integrated concept of a biological database

Abstract: Galling insects are specialist herbivorous that have the ability of manipulating plant tissue to form complex biological structures called galls. Even though different organisms induce galls in plants, insect highest degree structural complexity. The main goal this study was obtain a preliminary systematic record gall morphotypes from Guanacaste Conservation Area Costa Rica and integrate information into database. Plant were recorded, characterized deposited specialized herbarium established as reference for inventory. Moreover, associated with included inventory when it possible identify them. Galls collected rainy season over period three years. In total, we recorded forty-four families, seventy genera, eighty-seven host species. One hundred thirty-one identified Area. family number Fabaceae (8.4%). Leaves organ largest (71%), followed by stems (17.6%), apical buds (6.9%). predominant shape globular (25.2%), discoid (18.3%). Fifty-nine percent had glabrous texture, which most common on leaves, 77%. twenty our field records (91.6%) new not only but also world.
